Tuesday, January 02, 2007Doing out part for Charity? Quote from "www.channelnewsasia.com - Volunteers worried as Youth Challenge probed."
The 21-year-old, who only wanted to be known as Ms S Chen, said: “Usually, the ones who make it to the list are those who raise between $2,000 and $4,000. If you raise say, less than $100, he would say very harsh things to you and then just sideline you. We are all there to do our part for charity ... it should not be just about the amount you can raise.” It's amazing how charity work these days... ORD... seeing PINK This post should probably came in earlier than like now. There's a straighforward reason why I post this so late... simply because I'm too lazy and most of the time, I was playing maple story on my computer. Oh well, from now, i'm probably having more updates here.
The time has come after 2yrs and 2mths of National Service. I would probably said that honestly, as much as I feel that every male Singapore citizens should be contribute to the defence of the nation, the time spent could be channelled to somewhere else more useful. NS had taught me serveral useful things and made me a stronger person. However, should you ask me about my NS experience, it was a sliding curve. I could rattle on and on about my NS experience but I guess it would probably bored the people reading and me writing. In summary, I'd made friends whom helped me a lot, whom were the pillars of support for each other in times of hardship and share the joy and fun. There were many things that I had done in my training days that I had never thought possible but I still managed to do it... It's pretty amazing and I thought to myself, I'm such a miracle. However, I didn't really enjoyed NS during my days in the unit. I was apptd as a Deputy Manpower Offr. My task was mainly events management and running mandune administrative task. It was a totally different concept from mounting the Armoured Vehicle and learning to fight. In my tour of duties, I had seen many selfish and disgusting people. At the same time, many NSF like myself trying to stay floating in the deep sinking sea. In general, I would say, the whole NS experience was probably 6.75 / 10. I still believed in the whole idea of defending the nation, but the NSF are still not been recognised enough in the SAF. After all, the army is a conscripted army - we form the bulk of fighting force, yet most of the credits goes to the regular force in army. Now, the time has come where I should carry on with my life as a civillian. A new beginning... 9th of Aug may be national day, but this year, it serves a greater meaning for me on national day. It's a day that means new beginning for me. It's a day where I'm no longer a military personnel but a civillian.
A civillian who can fulfil my dreams and goals. Other than that, my blogger would serve as a new start for me. Till than I have my new life, i'm still enduring the pain of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, yet i'm still stuck in the shit hole. I believe in this blog, you should be able to see more exciting news and information here... Hopefully I can update as often as I can. For those who don't know me updates, I've already confirm a permanent job at some pharamceutical company. Would be starting work on 1st Sep. Meanwhile till than i'll have to face the final stretch and the 1 month break after work. Monday, May 08, 2006130th BMPOC 130th Basic Manpower Officer Course have just officially ended and your highness is a graduate from the course...
It's a pretty interesting course conducted at School of Manpower Management (SMP)... It's divided into 2 phases, Admin and Ops... Admin is mainly touching on personnel management, NSman, REG, etc... Ops is touching on S1 cell in operation. Some of the highlights inclusive of girls in the courses, lessons at CMPB, DTTB 22nd Storey, excursion into SAF DB, and other interesting places. Of course not forgetting the killer open book test... Thank god didn't really do badly... Ops phase was fun as well, starting packed with computer lessons, subsequently finale Exercise... And a more humane open book test. Yours sincerely did quite well for the course and managed to obtain a top 2 in the course... Yeah... Celebration... Sunday, March 26, 2006Long Story Short... Oh well, it's about time I start to update my blog again. Thru'out I've always wanted to blog, just that I'm too lazy to log onto this website and start blogging, especially I've to start preparing what to write etc etc... Anyway reading back at my blog, it's nothing really educational tho except maybe how am I doing...
Let me see what happened to me lately... My Boss wedding... ![]() Well, I've got a nice boss, he's very nice to his man and also understanding... Generous, got like $50 for helping him in his wedding... (Don't I look sauve in the No.1 uniform?) My ex clerk, Ryan, POP with Silver Bayonet... Ryan's my clerk when i just got posted to 46 SAR, he was there because he downgraded and revoc. Often raise the point that he wants to be back in command sch and upon upgraded, S1 put him back into SISPEC and wa lau... few months later became a top few percent sergeant... Different leadership... As mentioned, I've got a very nice boss. But unfortunately we don't exactly have a very very nice big boss. Oh well, I guess it's different leadership. LTC Ong does things like a commander, plan projects as tho he's planning for exercise or operation, always keeps the objective and goals. LTC Lim does things like a leader, give you full control of the planning and execution, but doesn't leave you in the lure, often give you a helping hand in need and provide leadership and guidance... LTC Koh does things like a marketing manager, often likes to project the best image to the public even at the expense of something else. Provides lotsa suggestions and expects you to heed his suggestions even tho there are better ways out there. Expects you to feedback often on progress and likes to question if progress is not the suggested way. I'm not trying to question my superior of their abilities, but of course there's always things to learn from there about their style of leadership... |
